All of us have a a certain frame through which we perceive the world. Photography is the way in which I am able to express my views of life. The camera allows me to penetrate other people's lives, and serves as an excuse to share their intimacy- the places where not everyone is allowed in. I am particularly interested in seeing behind the masks that we, inevitably, put on. It has been one year since I moved from Mexico city. I am intrigued by the different lifestyles, notions of personal space, what makes us happy, sad, our cultural inheritance and which parts we choose to share with others. A photograph is more than a mere picture that is well composed or lit; it is a means to approach a subject, whether it is a place, a person, or yourself. My camera serves as an excuse to enter people's intimacy and lets me see the hidden sides that we keep locked in our boxes. My job as a photographer is to open that intimacy box and reveal what is inside to the rest of the world. |
